Getting Your Rebate Is a Snap

Three simple steps to receive your energy efficiency rebate!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • This program is only available to current Piedmont residential and commercial customers in North Carolina and South Carolina who are replacing existing natural gas equipment with qualifying high-efficiency natural gas equipment. New construction customers and customers replacing existing electric and/or propane equipment are not eligible for the rebates. No rebates are available in our Tennessee service territory.

  • Eligible high-efficiency water heaters and furnaces must be installed by a licensed contractor. This helps to ensure safety and the proper installation of natural gas equipment.

  • You will need to complete the rebate application truthfully and legibly in its entirety. A detailed copy of proof of installation (receipt/invoice/contract) and/or copy of proof of purchase (sales receipt) must accompany the application.

  • Applications must be postmarked within 90 days after the equipment installation.

  • Please allow up to six weeks for rebate processing from the time the rebate form is received in the mail by Piedmont Natural Gas to when a rebate check is mailed out.

  • UEF and AFUE are both terms defined by the Department of Energy. UEF stands for Uniform Energy Factor and AFUE stands for the Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency. These are both industry standard terms to identify and compare the energy efficiency of the equipment. The higher the UEF the more efficient the water heater is; this is applicable for both storage and tankless water heaters. For natural gas furnaces, the same is true, where the higher the AFUE rating the more efficient the furnace operates. Your installing contractor can provide you with the efficiency rating of your high-efficiency equipment.
